Mobile gaming platform startup INK Games gets $18.75 million

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 25, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — INK Games (“INK”), an Austin-based startup building a social gaming and commerce platform, announced that it has secured $18.75 in funding million through its Series B funding round. This brings the company’s total funding to $28.25 million after its Series A round of $9.5 million in September 2021.

Using proprietary technology, INK Games builds a platform where users can integrate their social networks and participate in the revenue from these connections.

“Imagine us like the Netflix of games, except we pay users for the value of their connections and viral reach,” said Robert Towles, co-founder and CEO of INK. “To achieve this, we connect the world through INK IDs (user IDs), then pay users from game or project revenue that flows through their global connectivity – passively and continuously,” he said. added.

At the heart of the INK platform is the company’s proprietary payment and tracking engine, which maps each user’s viral reach, algorithmically assesses audience engagement, and then pays users an ongoing share of that value. This experience is mobile-based and tracked through the INK Pay app. “We’re going to enable billions of users to live off their smartphones,” Towles said.

“The current user acquisition model in mobile gaming is broken and completely excludes the user,” said Josh Gause, INK Co-Founder, President and Chief Creative Officer.

Flagship platform title from INK Games, Price Realms, offers a unique take on the casual board game category and was developed in-house at the company’s Austin, TX studio. The free-to-play title is currently in testing with a global launch slated for later this year.

“This game is a sleeping giant – a mix of market-proven and new concepts,” Gause added.

Towles also suggested that the INK platform could support other entertainment and commercial projects and experiences, including those focused on Web3, in the future. “We’ve built our platform to support multiple experiences, including free-to-play and free-to-play games,” Towles explained. “We are evaluating where Web3 technologies and other experiences can add value and we may eventually integrate those as well.”

The INK team is made up of notable industry executives with histories of scaling major franchises for the likes of Electronic Arts, Zynga, SciPlay, and Buffalo Studios. INK Games is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and plans to double its number of employees from 45 to 90 by the end of the year.
