Google has been forced to come out into the open and assure users that its online gaming platform Stadia won’t be shutting down anytime soon.
The company has generally avoided making such strong statements, but was forced to do so after a social media post circulating this week claimed the search giant was shutting down its gaming project.

The post was also shared by a Twitter manipulate called Killed by Google, which basically talks about all the products that Google has killed over the years. While there’s no way to verify who the Twitter handle belongs to, the message shared by the handle was clearly strong enough for Google to come out and confirm the report, one way or another.
Here’s what the post said about Google Stadia and its future:
A former colleague and friend of mine, is now one of Google’s regional managers. He was actually the one who got me started with Stadia. They held a pretty big employee and retailer seminar in California last weekend, and long story short, Google is starting its exit plan. They didn’t have an exact date when the end of service would occur, but they said by the end of the summer. He also mentioned that they won’t transfer their services or servers to any other competition per se, and it will be much like they did with “Google Play Music”.
Same approach and exit strategy
I’m obviously not as big of a fan as some of you, but you’ve always been super cool and helpful, so I thought I’d return the favor and give you a heads up.
There were a few other details I could post if you like, but nothing too groundbreaking. I believe he also mentioned that all members would be notified 30-60 days before, and that the last month of service will be refunded and free of charge for its use.
Additionally, all available subscription months will be fully refunded to your linked bank account.
I’m going to talk to him tonight and ask him any questions you may have.
Thanks again guys.
And seeing that post sparked a backlash, with many fearing the worst. But Google responded to one such user on social media confirming that Stadia was not shutting down. He even assured that people would see more games added to the platform. And if that wasn’t enough, Google sent a cheeky response to the message, with its own from the Stadia handle just a few days ago.
Just a warning
My former colleague is now one of Google’s social managers. They held a pretty big seminar in California last weekend, and long story short, you can now play Wavetale at no additional cost on Stadia Pro until August 1: https://t.co/2O6P0Kd8Kd pic.twitter.com/Hjo0pvARKx

Stadia has officially been around for a few years, but its availability has been limited to certain countries. India has never had Stadia and we don’t expect that to change anytime soon.
