Dangal Games gaming platform revenue: Dangal Games ends FY21 with net revenue of Rs 20 million; aims to expand its portfolio of online games

Online gaming platform Dangal Games says it closed FY22 with a net income of Rs 20 crore, Varun Mahna, founder and CEO of Dangal Games, told BrandWagon Online, adding that although the company is profitable in terms of unit economy, it is still in losses. He, however, declined to comment on last year’s loss. “We are on the road to profitability and should be able to become profitable within the next three years. We are aiming to record a net income of Rs 70 crore in FY23,” he added.

Although poker remains the company’s flagship game, as it was the first game launched, as part of its expansion strategy, the company has added new game genres including Fantasy, Rummy, Casual, among others. “In one year, we were able to diversify our sources of income. Poker once accounted for 100% of revenue. Currently, it accounts for 60% of revenue while the remaining 35% comes from other game genres,” explained Mahna. It currently claims to have a total user base of 2.2 million.

According to the company, its marketing is divided into two parts: branding and customer acquisition. The company says that currently its spending on branding is limited, but it plans to increase. “Acquisition and retention are the most important levers for us as an organization. We are focused on continuing to drive these two levers to drive growth in the coming years,” he added.

According to the regulatory filing viewed by business intelligence platform Tofler, XETA Networks Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Dangal Games reported (on a standalone basis) a 39.6% drop in revenue from the sale or supply of of services at Rs 11.7 crore in FY21 compared to Rs 19.4 crore, in the previous year. While its net loss widened fourfold to Rs 82.5 lakh in FY21 from 21.57 lakh in FY20.
